Foldable wings and rocket boosters. What Johnathan, Walter have in Perseus Company, and what Keith has in the Argos Platoon.
Ai and Rob show up in the first episode with these.

Billy gets one of these when he joins Perseus. It has wings that can fold. They were most recently seen escorting the fighter jets in Episode 15, but they've been around since episode 1.
>Powers Olympia Angels
This is the bog standard NUN Fafner. Johnathan, Billy, and Keith all start the show in one. It has missile pods which apparently can be switched out for larger outriggers, although I'm not sure what they do since we haven't seen them in action. My first guess is larger missile bays, but they look too thin.

There is also another wingless model shown in episode 14 & 15 that has distinct enough features that it doesn't quite fit the bill of a Thrones or Dominions. It has a deployable Aegis shield, as well as a strange crown on the head. Probably a Dominions variant without the distinctive jet boosters. Neither we, nor the Nips have a specified name for it as of this point. I could speculate, but there's not really anything to go on other than Angel names.

Item! As has been mentioned before, there is an Eiwasu mentioned on the Japanese wiki, however it isn't definitively tied to anything, but they associate it with the Powers model with the large "shields". see pic. I'm not sure if it's actually a larger missile bay than on the regular Olympia Angels variant, or just some additional physical shielding. Another speculation, is that it's some sort of generator for an Aegis-like shield. Before the Fafner in my pic gets Worm Sphere'd as it tries to open the hatches.

I think the "Eiwasu" might be the name of the wargear suite of those large outriggers.

Note how the flaps are down and there isn't any light unlike the one above? It's also really really thin, compared to the normal missile bay (right hand side).

Actually, the more I think about it, we've never seen those shoulder things shoot any missiles. That was just me thinking out loud.

And I noticed another mistake. This Red model >>13393941 shows up at the end of Episode 14. The "antennae", look like those Spike Launchers, which are shown mounted on the backs of Gabriels in Episode 1Ex.

So we can safely say that there are at least 6 variants of NUN models.

2 types of Thrones, the Sandalphon and Raphael, and those are what we had been calling "Dominions"
There's 2 Dominions models, the Gabriel, and an unknown one.
Then two Powers variants, the Ariel and Olympia Angels, and maybe the Eiwasu is a variant all its own too?

Olympia Angels doesn't really sound like.it fits the naming convention, and neither does Eiwasu. That kinda makes sense that it's a type of equipment then.

Well, they kind of did when Kouyo woke up in DA. But it probably wasn't the best situation for that.

On the topic of Kouyo, I do hope he gets a bit more time to shine whenever he comes back. Seeing H&E again recently, it's great that he shows up as Vier, but he really doesn't get to do much before disappearing. Being totally silent now probably doesn't help either.

I think it's just sad. She faced so much hardship to get this far. She got a seccond chance and found happiness and finally got the normal live she deserved, but in the end she still ends up sacrificing it to save the rest.

So the Einherjar like the name implies will be a fafner powered by the lives of every human and festum who has ever lived won't it? Doesn't this mean it will be a being more powerful than all the Azazel types? I think its with it that they will contact Altair, it will use all the lives it experienced to show Altair not to assimilate the planet but rather coexist.

It's different in UX, every character has its own secret while in K you saved them in bulk. Shouko and Mamoru have specific route splits (and Mamoru has to share the Funf with Hiroto which is annoying), Michio and Misao's requirements are doable on joint stages.

And since there's HaE in UX, you automatically get Sakura back (though she goes from mainly melee to all range, it's weird) and Kouyo isn't saveable but you get the Mark Vier with him as the core.

Mjolnir talks about some of this to Dr. Hino about how the Festum are looking for some weird zen state of existence that isn't exactly "here"
Considering every type of SDP has been rooted in some ability that Festum already displayed, assuming "traditional" time and possibility rules, there's some time in some future where the Festum achieved that state of existence. Canon just got to cheat her way into the future thanks to her SDP.

My guess is Kazuki helps the Festum achieve that "Existence" and then the Festum sorta go away. Canon, could show up at that juncture, but she'll have to go with them becauseof her time h4x. Soushi will be going with them as well.

I actually wonder. Does Canon's action helpful at all? She never told people what she saw. She just check the future which saps her life further and further. Even is she dies, it doesn't change the fact that the future she saw will happen.

Her SDP seems to be more than just 'check the future', as her fighting in the future visions reduces the amount of possible bad-ends that the Island ends up having. As shown in this episode, there is now a prolonged future for the Island thanks to her fighting Walker in her vision. Also I'm assuming she built the Einherjar's blue prints based on her future visions.

I do wonder though, what as it exactly that she did in her final vision before her death? It was deliberately cut.

Next episode is effectively "Maya and Ai go out on recon then..."

Episode after that is Island plot with just enough kanji I don't know to not want to make a guess. You'll need someone a little better than me to translate it.

Anyway, good to see more Ai next episode. She's the one new character who feels a little underdeveloped to me. Hopefully we can fix that, even if she bites it next week.

The date that she fought Walker was Nov. 3, basically when she and Kazuki beat Walker, then the island got rekt.
However, that happens anyways without her intervention, except presumably Kaz dies, which means even worse thing between Nov 3 and Dec 17.
My guess is that when they do show her final mission that they skipped, we'll get to see how she stopped/delayed Walker before he gets to the island.

Orihime did say that SDP effects won't kill you, only change your body. I think this episode was intended to leave that possibility open for viewer interpretation.

I'd also like to say that this episode was literally the first time I have ever cried because of a TV show. Or any other piece of fiction actually. I've loved Fafner for years and years. I don't even know how I feel right now.

That is not Kazuki. No fuckin way. The way he keeps on talking, brushing aside her question. There's also a tinge of cruelty in the words, almost as if he's mocking her for continuing to fight. Kazuki would never speak to anyone like that.
We don't see Kazuki proper in that sequence either.
Something stinks, and I don't like it. Canon noticed it too.

I agree that she's definitely gone from this world forever. I think there is the possibility that she still exists "somewhere" in some form. Canon as her name implied began repeating the same fight (same music) at different times to get a new result.

If my understanding of her power was correct Canon's canon allowed her to provide information for the island that's vital for its defense. Like the fact that the island falls because Walker steals the Gordion crystals.

In some manner or another her fight was also causing shifts in the timeline, either by destroying BAD ENDS or simply because she'd locked herself in the cockpit until she burned out and that was causing things to go differently on the island.

I can't be for certain but I also believe she might have been causing the power of the Gordian Crystals in general to increase by racking up all those kills, which accelerated everyone elses assimilation phenomenon a little but bearing the brunt of it herself. This acceleration led to Sui powers making him summon Rina again which helped heal the family so they'd figure out whatever they figured out, Rina being able to make contact with Hiroto and spur her Grandmother into action into better understanding the Gordion Crystals and causing Mimika and Reo to go see Kenji so he'd have his epiphany. As stated before, I doubt Canon would have gone as peacefully as she did if her final sortie had ended poorly.

This bit just fucking broke me.

Nearly the entire episode was spent priming the viewer for what was about to happen, and I still cried more than I have for any other work of fiction.

She finally got to state her feelings, while denying them in the most absolute way possible. Then Chocolat howling, and those candy wrappers, goddamnit. I'm so scared to see Youko next island episode, but she has to know that Canon loved her as much as any daughter would. Just that wrapper proves it more than anything could.

Last episode had me desperately theorizing ways Canon could survive, maybe the weight loss is because some part of her stays in the futures she visits, etc. But now that just seems disrespectful of the sacrifice she made. I won't count out other anons ideas that she'll have some "presence" in the future, but the Canon we know and love had her time, and was able to trade her future for that of the island.

It's not surprising.

The first half is a bit of a hard watch that improves after you've made it through the whole series.

The first half was both too slow and too fast with it's original writer. Having little moments that are only significant on a rewatch and not spending enough time making us care about the two coffin stuffers.

I'm still kinda happy they gained new allies and hope after all the suffering.
Sein and the UN outcast in S1, Sky kun in H&E, Exodus with neutral Festums and their NUNS allies like Billy who would shield Akira with his own life.
