it was an ambiguous scene that could have gone either way, that way they could still bring her back for any final scenes if they wanted. for example, if she's alive then they'll just say "well the pod can withstand punishment, that makes sense" and if she was kept dead then they'll say "the pod was caught in the explosion and was destroyed"
