You have the dichotomy wrong. It's not a distinction between super robot fans and real robot fans, it's between mecha fans and real robot fans.

The former group tends to be accepting of a variety of shows, but how often do you see Gundamfags and the like claiming that "super robots are a bunch of outdated kiddy motw shit" and such? Far more common than the inverse.

Real and super represent collections of tropes or conventions, sub-sub-sub-sub-genres if you will.

Most shows are not going to play those conventions entirely straight, but when they don't play it straight, its subverting the expectations of each genre for the purpose of story/interesting dynamics/comedy etc.

comedy is not inherently better than drama, or tragedy, that would be a silly thing to suggest, they're designed for different purposes.

likewise, a drama can often implement conventions of comedy, or other genres, that doesn't suddenly mean the terms drama and comedy suddenly cease to exist because one genre has used elements traditionally found in another. same for the 'real' and 'super' genres.

Every notice how it's Gundam newfags always pushing these labels? Gundam is more mainstream in the west, so you get newfags who know jackshit about mecha saying this trash. Meanwhile, stuff like Getter or Tetsujin is much more niche and you only get the most hardcore mecha fans who know anything about them. Unsurprisingly, it's the newfags (i.e. Gundam fans) pushing these retarded terms while the knowledgeable fans who actually have a strong sample of mecha disagree.

It's generally indicative of how these shows are. The former have something to prove and the latter just want to be a fun thrill ride. The former are more serious (generally) and the latter have whatever tone they want.
