There are, of course, numerous problems with the concept. We're asked to believe that the development of the "first" space colonies and "first" mobile suits happened a dozen times because all previous iterations were completely forgotten (only a couple of shows imply that mobile suits aren't a very new thing). And while people in SEED are totally unaware that there were colonies on Jupiter's moons thousands of years ago, they remember irl ancient mythology for no apparent reason (Abyss, Gaia, Mjolnir, etc). Of course it's fairly easy to handwave some of these things when you have planet-wide-amnesia-machines in Victory Gundam, ancient databases of forbidden technology in AGE, the powers of the Devil Gundam, newtype magic, and so on. Some people just refuse to accept that just becasue it hasn't been explained doesn't mean it *couldn't* be explained.
Then there are the "multiple realities converge into Turn-A" crowd who just sound like insane alchemists to me, describing something so patently absurd as if there's nothing wrong with it gives me the impression that they simply don't understand reality at all.
