As funny as it is that the 02 kids were so unpopular they killed them all, isn't this an alternate continuity? It has to be, since 02 ended with everyone getting a Digimon and the kids Digimon sticking around. Nobody has a Digimon in the street, and there's no sign of Agumon at Tai's house.

Best guess, in this continuity they never met the 02 kids and TK and Kari were never a part of them, and they organized on their own to fight whatever this Gundam dude is, and failed.
Thus explaining why the 02 kids aren't around, because well it's not their aniversary special, it's 01's.

The difference is Destiny's cast were more interesting than Seeds, while the 02 kids mostly sucked except for maybe Iori.

Remember how Daisuke had nothing to him but being a hotblooded idiot? Or Miyako just being the smart girl and that's it who's best mind fantasy the big bad could give her was not having to share with her siblings?

Ken could have been interesting, but quickly took his drama to over the top wangsting levels when it was clear everyone was over it and didn't blame him and he even had a darkness item corrupting him but still he was beating himself up over being the Emperor.

Destiny was robbed of potential by shelfing the new cast. Nothing of value is lost by tossing the 02 kids. They had their own entire show with minimal interferance from the old guard and they still were lame and boring.

Nope. That would be the case if The Adventure kids took over 02. This is a third series staring the original kids. For this and Destiny to be similar the Destiny cast would have had to win in Destiny only to get fucked up at the beginning of a third Seed series.

This is more like if the Seed cast dropped out after 34 and Destiny finished focusing on Shinn and co, only for everyone to decide in the end that Shinn and co weren't all that great after all and they wished Team Kira was back, after all.

Destiny's cast never got a real chance, but 02 did and people weren't satisfied with the result. So this is what happens.

Most of the hate are directed towards Daisuke and Miyako because they're really nothing characters who didn't develop at all. Iori was fine but wasn't really memorable. Takeru and Kari did less than their younger selves. Ken was without a doubt the best character in that season in fact he's probably one of the stronger characters in the franchise as a whole, his whole redemption arc was well-done and despite 02's major lapse in writing quality his arc didn't seem affected by it.

They weren't more powerful the 01 kids were nerfed twice because they had to give up their power before the second season and because of the dark towers everywhere. As characters they never really got to stand out due to the piss poor writing and even then it went back to "Only the hero and lancer get to be useful" trope of the previous season.

That's never going to change. Sora and Yamato were always supposed to get together even when they making 01, because the writers thought it was too stereotypical for the lead hero to have to have a relationship with the main girl.

The Taiora stuff was dub added only. They're not gonna change that.
