It was shallow, rushed and forced, the worst of all being how they completely threw a whole season of Soma's character development just to offer this cheap shipping bait. The only pairing that somehow works in 00 is Patrick and Katy, for the simple reason that it was used as mere comedy fuel. All the others have no business being in this show. Mizutani at least managed to save Setsuna from falling into that pit of nonsense. Setsuna also happens to be the only thing along Ribbons to not become trash in S2.

This did bother me, but Soma WAS already shipping bait.

The whole cyber newtype thing is shipping bait.
It just sucked since they elevated her to cheerleader too much in S2.

That's all I'm talking about. Shipping bait is fun, at its best it makes a character like Soma or >>13409888, at its worst it makes someone like Anew, who is cute anyway and only fucked up one episode.

See how those two turned utterly irrelevant after their sappy shipping session ended? Those characters are nothing, their "relationship" is nothing as well. Alleluja's character was carried by his inner Gollum, Soma was an actual character while Mari was a fat lot of nothing.

Louise became a normal human again after S2's ending. Considering that she's hospitalized I'd say she's even weaker, while Alle and Marie are still superhumans, as shown in the movie.

Also, I never really understood how Louise was supposed to be stronger. She was never able to read people's minds or have other new powers, she was always sick. It seems like Ribbons just fucked her body up.

It's a very strange and abrupt plot thread, to tell you the truth. Marie becomes a lot less powerful and loses a lot of her personality. Then you had romantic music playing over flashbacks of child murder and implied cannibalism.

To Marie he was effectively her father and always took care of her, to Andrei he was a piece of shit who helped get his mother killed and then became a deadbeat dad afterward. Isn't 00 the only Gundam where characters all have confirmed nationalities?

I think it's funny seeing a Muslim forming a crew with an Irish (Lockon), Russians (Soma and Allelujah), a Japanese American (Saji) and so on.
