DBZ sucked. It killed the magic adventure and charm of the original series in order to focus on shitty power ups, drawn out fights (EVEN IN THE MANGA) and saiayan wank.

Every single Gundam series before 0083 is about twice as good as 0083.
Even a few after that were way better.

Personally i think Gunbuster is way overrated, it's like, a 6 or 7.

DYRL is inferior to SDF Macross in every way except visuals.

I agree Dragon Ball was much better overall but Z had some good points (Vegeta, Future Trunks, Young Gohan).

Also Yamcha was just as useless in the later parts of DB. I feel more sorry for the way Tien was treated in Z.

You can't compare series to OVAs.
Personally I like 0080 better than 0083 as well, but 0083 is better than any OVA beside it.
It has a great characters, suit designs, action and one of the best Gundam openings.

I found it to be inferior to 08th. People bitch about the romance, but there isn't some BS twist involving a love triangle with the antagonist shoehorned in at literally the last second, during a poorly written Titans plug, at a point in the show where everyone was rendered mentally handicapped apparently.
Some of the characters in 83 were cool i guess. The mechs were neither here nor there for me, and yes the openings and fights were cool, but they don't save the OVA from a really painful finale.

What im saying is that PERHAPS 0083's spot could go to 0079 or Zeta, both of which are a lot better in the storytelling department.
Hell, i even preferred ZZ.

I think 08ths ending was even weaker, and that final epilogue episode was lame.
The problem with 0079, Zeta, ZZ and Gundam series in general as opposed to the OVAs is that while they have some great moments, you have to weigh those off to all of the filler.
0079 has great dramatic moments, especially with Amuro's parents and Ramba Ral, but it's still obviously a glorified toy commercial for the most part.
Zeta recycles its major plot archs in the second half and generally has horribly unlikable characters.
ZZ is fun, but relatively inconsequential in the first half and it goes some crazy places in the second one.

But you obviously didn't watch any of the TV series', or you haven't in a very long time. Your points are typical shit poster points, and they are not particularly accurate.

Yes there's a little filler, but usually it's a better overall experience.
Zeta really didn't have that many HORRIBLE UNLIKABLE CHARACTERS.
Even Katz isn't that bad.

I watched all of Gundam up to Unicorn starting about 4 months ago. I went in completely bad so I had no prejudice against any series.

This is one of the reasons why you can't compare OVAs to series. The series have a lot of battles which are not essential to the plot but which might give a tiny bit of character development. The story being spread out over 50 episodes also makes you more familiar with the characters in general.
The OVAs are always superior in pacing and general production values.

I hated Emma, Reccoa, Katz, Jerid, Four, Sarah and Rosamia. Only including the characters I think you're supposed to like.
Mainly, Zeta has terrible women and most of the drama seems to be created by one of the cast members acting like a total idiot.

I was just saying that when talking about ANIME IN GENERAL of thw 80s amd 90's, 0083 shouldn't be one of twp Gundam series on the list.
