He's still texting himself but he's moved the "girlfriend" to Nicaragua, so he's accepted she won't be back. It's not much, but it's something, and you don't get over something like that in a day even for all the Masayoshis in the world.

It's the same thing with everyone of note in Samumenco really. Mari's still a bit of a sociopath, Moe's still a bit codependent, Masayoshi's still a bit... Masayoshi, and Kaname is still a bit best.

Deep scars take a long time to heal if they ever do. Maybe 5 years, maybe 10 or maybe he might never truly let go of her but the ending shows that he's trying. Things are getting better for him which puts him in a much better place than he used to be.

Yes, and that's just one of the many things I really like about this show. For all the wild ride elements, its representation of personal issues is realistic - they're not something you just overcome in a dramatically appropriate big moment. They come back. Dealing with them requires a lot of time and small steps.
