G Gundam had a conclusive enough ending.
The 14th Gundam Fight thing was just them being cruel teases, and even if it actually happened, the sequel would probably have been its own story.

Yes, but the manga ends with the beginning scene of the Mars manga, a new island from a vulcanic eruption and (the proably amnesiac) Mars on it discovered by a TV helicopter...
