Hell, I agree with the whole idea of a series being viewed holistically. What I disagree with is this absurd attitude that most people that like the show have taken on. While I get there's a need to defend a point of view from the common shitposter, it can be done in a much less haughty attitude.
There's a lot of passive aggressiveness in most posts I see, and many more with outright hostility as well. Look at the exchange a few posts up if you need to see what I'm talking about. It's not as if the average anime/mecha fan is going to be engaged as much by more "highbrow" (even though it really isn't) stuff so why bother worrying about their reactions so much?
Like instead of "Oh fuck, what an idiot you must be because you didn't quite catch something" why not, "well, sorry you didn't enjoy it"?
Oh, well.
