>>13417927Forgive me, I was talking from a story perspective. Yes, Halo Reach had the best gameplay and was the most immersive amongst the others.
The problem with Halo 4 and the previous novels leading up to it were that it was mostly written by Karen Traviss. While she is not a bad author herself, when she does enter and write novels for a franchise she ignores established fluff in favor of her own and "MUH MORALS".
She turn ONI from this "Big Brother is watching you" into "MUH MORAL GREYNESS". Let alone making the entire premise of the Storm Covenant a rather retarded one. It was handled so clumsily. It made ONI retarded, and ignored the fact that Elites and Humans had an established alliance by the end of Halo 3.
Anyways, Halo 5 isn't much of a disappointment. It's like Star Wars Episode 2. You can easily love certain parts of it, but it feels lacking overall. The parts I hate the most were having Jul 'Mdama jobbing to make Fireteam Osiris look good, Master Chief and Locke's underwhelming confrontation, a horrible showing of the Warden Eternal as this 'eternal jobber', fucking Neue Ziel Forerunner constructs, etc.
Personally I would have preferred playing as Rookie, with your multiplayer armor being the same as that in game (ala Halo Reach style). Hell, the squad could have been led by Veronica Dare again and their mission would still have made sense since she's ONI.
Shame Rookie died in the novels though.
