Well, there were several proto-mechas designed to act essentially as forklifts and some interesting all terrian designs. But I don't know anything truly /m/ that the military made. Bear in mind that the stuff I am talking about is to mechs as the sailboat is to submarines.

I'm still waiting for an army of Big Dogs with machine guns on their backs stalking across some devastated third world city.

But there are totally some cool robots in service today. Like those ordinance disposal robots that ... render explosive devices, er, safe, by shooting them.

If only Hardiman worked.
They never actually turned it on with a person inside, because they worried the shoulders would go haywire and break their arms.

There have been a few other exoskeletons since, but none have had that awesome bulk Hardiman did.
