What exactly is the function of this system? Is it to like funnel out extra photons or something? Is the same system on the Gaeon? It also has green panels when all of it's beams are activated.

Cooling systems, maybe? There's been some work in the real world with using magnetically-confined charged particle clouds to dump heat, it could be something similar. It would explain why they activate when the suit's operating at a high level of performance.
