I just realised that Formula's Core Driviar-N engine is so huge because it's obsolete, and needs to put out more power than normal. The Drive System can't normally manage shit like this.

If Rinna and Krim just used a NEX-Core Driviar for Formula it would be so much sleeker, and probably easier to use.

真骨彫はもうちょい引っ張ると思ってた2号展開を始めるのね
ン・ダグバ・ゼパも(真骨彫準拠か分からんが)リメイク版があるみたいで、噂によるとクウガアルティメットもあるらしい
これだけで2号・怪人・フォーム違いと真骨彫の展開に一気に広がりが出てきた感じだ
反面平成二期やキバなどはまだまだ出し惜しみされそうで悩ましいところではあるが

Meanwhile, Shiro actually calls out Yuki on being depressed over having an artificial arm when Shiro gave up his entire body.

This is maybe your only arguable point. That's more my opinion, but I doubt I'm the only person who likes Tachibana's appearance in V3 more than in the original show.

Instead of being an either head-strong autistic fuck or whatever would be contrary to Hongo, Shiro is a rather successful mix of Hongo and Ichimonji. He's focused on justice and vigilantism, whilst also managing to be a smug, cheerful "ace" type of character. Of the Showa protagonists, the only better protag than him is Hongo and that's only barely.

Tbh I liked Kazami and Yuki together more then Ichimonji and Hongo together but seperately it's a tough call.

I miss net movies, but the fact that we're getting actual full episodes like Drive Episode Zero, the Rider 4 mini, and the other shorts like the Televi-Kun and Type SCU ones, kinda help sooth that burn.

Kamen Rider 4 was actually pretty good too, so if Ghost gets anything of that level I feel like it might be worth it.

And he tries to hide it by being a boastful, tricky-dicky hero. He only displays weakness around regular people, once Destron's around he actually tries to be heroic and smug to fuck with them. He rarely got dead serious in V3, and when he did, it was usually when he actually had to be. Hell, even when he watched Riderman attempt suicide to save everyone, he still tried to be "upbeat" about it. Miyauchi was more moody in Zubat than V3, really.

It really isn't. Kamen Rider shows are still airing that are intended to be part of the franchise "seriously," whereas what has Fist of the North Star gotten in the past five years? Hokuto Musou and Shin Hokuto Musou (Both of which being terrible) and DD Hokuto no Ken. Everything else has been pachinko.

I always wondered why they brought back the Rider 3 concept but didn't use Taki, especially after how they had Hongo and Keisuke Jin's actors return in Heisei Vs Showa.

Not that I'm complaining mind you, the Rider 3 we got was a cool guy with a cooler theme song, but it always seemed strange to me they'd make a big deal about bringing out this lost Rider and then change it almost entirely.

Its pretty good so far I'm on episode 7 and its pretty loyal to the manga so I guess thats why is good. I wouldn't be able to tell you what genre exactly but there is a lot of intellectual stuff and deception its pretty fun to figure out ways to win the games before they're over.

He really isn't though. Ichimonji was more dickish than him. Appearing out of nowhere doesn't make him a dick, and Hongo already did that. He also carried Hongo's fear of revealing his identity to others. In spite of his different initial motivation, afterwards he just feels too close to Hongo.

Honestly... not really. Hongo had his moments of trickery and general rusing, but it was uncommon and they often played his intelligence on a more technical level (Upgrading himself and Ichimonji, modifying the Cyclone, converting Shiro to V3) whereas Shiro played his intelligence on a more social-influencing level. Combine that with messing around with monsters on a small scale (Taunts, smug looks, all that - basically things Hongo doesn't do and paved the way for a more thoroughly taunting and teasing protagonist, Jo) and you have a stand-out enough protagonist.

Besides, Hongo's more a dorky, earnest kind of guy. Even if it doesn't show up as much with Shiro, he's generally more lively and spirited - even down to his clothing. While some was the simple, similar disco-wear to Hongo, Shiro also had these really flamboyant cowboy outfits that'd make Ichimonji think he was gonig a little over the top. Some even got used for Zubat, I think.

Hibiki nearly killed the franchise because Takatera sucks with budget, couldn't figure out anything that wasn't just Kuuga again, and wasted money on set-pieces, CG, and extremely detailed Rider outfits. Throw in an expensive as fuck lead actor and toy budget going to hell because the merchandise is fucking shit and you basically have Rider nearly dying so hard they literally had to do a bug-themed Rider insanely hard to make up for any losses.

And those losses are still hitting the franchise today, by the way.

I've always liked this scene in the Skyrider movie, where Stronger calls Skyrider, but some other guy answers first. Even though you don't hear Stronger's voice at all in this scene, his attitude is pretty obvious (and it actually works better like this than it'd have if they had used the replacement voice actor that they use in the later scene where Stronger actually comes on screen).

Only options for the first three are TV-N at the moment. I know from personal experience that Faiz's isn't horrible, but it's still got untranslated shit all over the place and translator's notes.

They're not enjoyable at all, most of Kuuga's characters are completely forgettable. Hell while the cop that hangs around Kuuga was good I can't even remember his fucking name or anything he did aside from get a hard-on over one of the monsters. Fuck even the final villain was stupid and forgettable.

I think the main reason why I hated Kuuga, W, and Drive is because I just don't like cop shows and those three felt very similar to those kinds of shows.

I stopped caring about Enokida and Jean's subplot near the end of the series too, but aside from those points, and the fact that the fights themselves can be kind of weak, the actual writing of the show is goddamn fantastic and Godai's one of my favorite Rider protagonists.

Kuuga plays with the theme of the use of violence in response to violence throughout the entire series though. Regardless of what that paragraph said the show was NOT trying to do a "WE WERE THE MONSTERS THE WHOLE TIME!" but serving as a warning that the longer humanity stays embroiled in the violence that came with the fight against the Grongi, the more desensitized you get to it. Godai was able to withstand it because at heart he's a guy who hates violence and never loses that perspective despite the violence he's forced to undertake to protect others from the suffering it causes. Similarly, Ichijou and the police never lose perspective regarding their fight, because of the example that Godai as Kuuga provides. They don't fight to simply win over the Grongi, they fight to protect civilians and those who cannot fight.

Part of it is that it's overused, the other part is that it's also generally used POORLY, in that humanity's flaws are used as a get-out-jail-free card to excuse the villains being even worse fuckers.

Kuuga didn't play that way. Fighting back and getting used to the warfare that came with the conflict hardens people's hearts and maybe makes them more disposed to answering with violence, the Grongi are still unambiguously evil motherfuckers and the series makes no bones about the necessity of killing them all.

I've always thought that the rumor was a misinterpretation of Ghost's design. IIRC it said the trinkets were buttons, which you could easily misinterpret Eyecons as. Ghost's only ghostly features are his belt (which just looks like a piece of fabric with a hole and a handle) and his glowy bone lines which lots of people don't realize are bones.

The SIC Drive and Heart are done by the same designer. Just like the very first SIC Kuuga, Black RX, Shin etc. they are pretty much statues and very difficult to pose.

ah, it kinda just looks like the Ghost horn was taken off the helmet and two more were added with the jacket put on the Spectre undersuit.

Hopefully since it's probably cheaper, form sharing will be more common than in Gaim (which i think there was Gaim Banana and nothing else)

Will SPIRITS ever been scanned and translated? Baka-Updates says that its last release was like 1000+ days ago, and only chapter 54 which is apparently only halfway. As far as fanservice goes the X/Faiz plotline, Rider 1's transformation sequence, and ZX showing up are really the highlights of the film. I'd say it's worth watching for those but don't expect something great.

If you want an English adaptation watch kamen Rider Dragon Knight. It's not half bad for what it is and it doesn't have shitty puns or corny humor like Power rangers. It even got dubbed in japanese and aired in japan.

If super close to Rangers IS what you're looking for, yeah, go to /ssg/, but if you're still interested in Rider it depends on your taste. Fourze, Double, and Den-O are more light and jokey, Gaim, Kuuga, and Blade are darker and more dramatic (and probably others that I haven't watched). Kiva, Hibiki, Wizard, and arguably Faiz and Decade are ones you'd want to avoid though for various reasons.

My ideal KR game is a sidescroller Flash game that's faithful to the characters, lets you play as all Riders, and perfectly replicates all the gimmicks. And you would start in human form and be able to freely henshin and un-henshin.
