Guys, I really miss Flit Asuno and hoping he would destroy the Vegan.

I mean AGE should have been a fresh story if it stuck with his perspective, the potential was huge. Sadly he's not hugely important after his child arc.

I like to use my imagination to flesh out Flits story, but dammit, AGE just fell flat on too many good ideas. Hell, it wasn't really even BAD until Kio's story.

Flit deserves to not be a bottom tier Gundam protag.

Maybe the moral of AGE is about how ungrateful, shiftless descendants fuck everything up. I'd personally have ended the series with the Veigans stranded on their planet, and the AGE system used to established an orbiting ring of satellites to keep them there.

He essentially leads the good guys, just like Grodek did when he was a child. Without him Asem and Kio would be aimless.

I know that I'm talking with some loser who wants edgy genocide in a children show (that already had one of most impressive kill counts in finale where the entire enemy leadership was annihilated), but at least pretend you are capable of understanding basics of the story.

It's 1977. Yoshiyuki Tomino is directing Zambot 3. It's a low budget anime, where multiple episodes featured 3~4 staff members only since they didn't have the budget to hire more.

Back to 1975, Tomino was a rising star of the industry. Tutored by Tezuka, mentored by Nagahama, and under the watchful eye of industry giant Toei and rising upstart Sunrise.

Then why was he downgraded in 1977? Why did he get such a low budget?

Because of X-Rounder. In 1976, an anime aired. It was a big budget one hour special, intended to be part of a 36 episode series. It featured a war between an Earth faction and a Space faction, both human, fighting out over control of the solar system. X-Rounders were psychics, capable of withstanding the stress of space combat, who were wielded by both sides in robots to fight.

The robots were all gray, they had no legs, and used special manipulators instead of hands.

Some of this seems familiar to most, as it features elements that ended up in Gundam, but there's more. The 36 episodes took place over the course of THREE GENERATIONS OF PILOTS.

IT BOMBED, ONLY ONE EPISODE AIRED, AND ALL WE'VE EVER SEEN OF IT WAS 20 MINUTES ON BADLY RECORDED TAPES.

Kio should've never existed. It was just rehashing something they already covered in the second act anyways with Asemu/Zeheart. The visit to the Vagan homeland was completely forced and so was love for the Vegans.

Asem/Zeheart deal was about possible respect between a soldier of Earth and solider of Vagan.

Kio's deal was focused on Vagan's civilians.

It was particularly boring at multiple points long before Kio's arc though.

And the characters were plain awful with the exception of Flit, Obright, Woolf and Grodek.

They could've just expanded on it. It made more sense, since they spent so much time with each other and been through a lot. Kio just went there and got brainwashed into loving the Vagans overnight.

The most accomplished Gundam protagonist ever is bottom tier? No.

Kio and pehaps Asemu are bottom tier, though.

Same about Asemu's pirate faction. Dunno how manga defined them, but it wouldn't hurt if they were bunch of outlaws both from Earth and Vagan.

But generally, Kio simply lost hearth to killing. And I liked it a lot that he moved on using AGE Device for civilian research.
He wasn't material for a solider, so he started working on solving the conflict as a civilian researcher.

I'd say Amuro or Setsuna are more accomplished main leads personally. Amuro helped stop two wars and saved the entire planet while simultaneously showing them the light of the human heart while Setsuna helped stop dozens of conflicts, united the entire world, then helped destroy the cancerous organization that led to before becoming the first human to contact aliens as well as the first human to leave the solar system.

Flit really doesn't have shit on that. Especially when you look at his record with a bit more scrutiny. You might claim he built his own Gundam, but really the AGE builder did that, he just stood around ready to collect whatever it shat out. He built the AGE builder, but did so off someone else's plans, which isn't really all that impressive all told. He became head of the Federation I suppose, but then, he did a piss poor job of it. I mean, his main platform was getting rid of the Vagan traitors and the next time we pick the story back up, not only is the Federation swimming in Vagan traitors but so is the entire planet. And they pull off a major terrorist campaign and kill thousands because of it. Add to that the fact that literally only person in the entire Federation seems to have any remaining respect for the dude and it gives the impression he didn't do much and no-one actually gave a fuck.

He helped stop a war I guess. That's Gundam protagonist 101 though. Unless you consider getting a statue to be grounds for accomplishment I can't really see why you'd consider him more accomplished than most any Gundam protagonist frankly. Kamille actually designed his own Gundam, Uso was a more effective child pilot and Kihel was a more effective politician since she and Dianna might as well have been the main characters of Turn-A.
