Eh, the degree of abominativity inherent in it was pretty much my decision anyway, since I was the one who violently chopped the requests apart and sewed them together into what became this thread. Even though it was part of the dumb in-universe thing, I meant what I said about forgetting to instill the urgency in the PC for reaching the core. There was always going to be some kind of time pressure, I just constantly forgot to mention it, perhaps distracted by the same prospects of filly devastation you guys were.

But the main thing is literally ANYTHING would have been better than a literal deus-ex machina. I even had a few ideas swimming around, I just couldn't get my tired-brain to formulate them properly. Which is why I'll probably set us back to right after Rarity left next time.

Also, it was spoilers because it wasn't part of the quest narrative, but we're well beyond that being a possibility for the rest of this thread, so fuck it.

It happened for much the same reason everything else has; it popped into my head at the time and I thought it would be funny. I actually kinda regretted it immediately afterwards last night, because it really doesn't make sense. My thought process was that he would sometimes use other things to mine, but he's not a miner, he's a DRILLER.

The three day thing was going to be literal, as in I was literally going to end the quest Sunday night, no matter what. But knowing what I do now I'll probably be able to keep it going for a bit longer, so I should be able to come up with a better plot device for time pressure.

I mean, we CAN keep going in this doomed world if you really want to, but it'd probably be worse off for it.
