Once upon a time, you were an average citizen in an average life in an average time and an average place.
You stagger unsteadily at the sudden loss of sensory, the blackness all consuming around you. You can hear voices outside, muffled but loud and all too near in the dusty, stifling air that surrounds you.
Average this, average that. Go to bed. Go to work. Go to bar. Go to movies.
Then the cupboard happened. A remarkable scenario for an otherwise unremarkable person.
You hear the telltale creak, nearly earsplittingly loud as it echoes around you in this claustrophobic chamber. A fine line of light seeps in, revealing the oaken surroundings that had become so familiar as of late.
The crack widens with more creaking until a splash of green and a blur of blue become visible. You wince under the sudden illumination, the light of day turning everything into a mottled mix of color.
As you rub your eyes sleepily and adjust, you see a titanic, dull yellow equine creature eyeballing you with a smile, a foreleg breaking every law of horse anatomy and slowly continuing to open the door to the outside.
"Good morning, Anon!"
"Sunday already?" You yawn groggily, but find her grin infectious enough to crack a small smile yourself.
"Yep, it's cupboard day!"
She sidesteps until you can see a slightly shorter, winged, blue horse idly reading a magazine. She looks up from her perch on a massive bed in the still larger bedroom.
"Mhm. Sunday already," she murmurs, more staring at the reading material than yourself as she waves a casual greeting via a flick of a hoof. "Sequoia brought coffee." She points to a nightstand cluttered with figurines depicting Earth scenes, dominated by a still larger mug of steaming, fresh coffee.
It bothered you sometimes that right now, you were one of those figurines, but the blue pegasus, Cumulonimbus, had privately assured you that you were the one who the other pony, Sequoia, snuggled when she went to bed.
