this is a little deviation from the story but i thought id share the ranking system that i see when i write this story

at the top is Manos (naturally)

then its the left and right hands of fate. however right now Lyra is the only Hand making her (technically) 2nd in command

after Lyra would be Aryanne, Honor Bound, and Cadence at a equal level but each is a commander of their own branch

Aryanne -> Black Hands and the personal guards of Manos
Honor Bound -> Research and Development and its Black Hand Security forces
Cadence -> Changeling removal Branch and the Crystal guards

Under the three ponies above there would be, in order of ranking

Manos Personal Guards

Crystal Gestapo - not technically military

Black Hands Officers

Crystal Guard Officers (and any Royal Guard officers that might defect to Manos)

Black Hands

Crystal Guards

Brownshirts - not technically military

Ponies in the Royal Guard (that are followers of Manos)

Conscripts

--- not technically military Commanders ---
(the Brownshirts under Harshwhinny and the Gestapo are under the Two Sisters Shine)

Are Crystal Guard Officers able to order Black Hands non-coms and soldiers around?
I would say no, Black Hands should only answer to Manos and their officers.
Black Hands Officers on the other side should be able to give orders to Crystal Guards and Brownshirts alike.
As you can see, there's much internal conflict potential here, for the main story and for some nice bg episodes. I'm looking at you >>25156860 Black Hand...
