I was a little late on watching Friendship Games, but I don't remember seeing this particular question being discussed.

How it's seen in deleted scenes, Friendship Games originally intended to have Sunset questioning her place in EQG world, while making an accent on that original pony world has so much more to offer. So, originally she had a direct parallel with EQG Twilight, explicitly shown in the alternative version of Twilight's song many people already have seen.

And while I do agree, that alternative song version was much more impressive, and the whole scrapped idea was kind of more deep that the used one, I keep thinking that the main reason the scrapped idea was scrapped, was the whole thing being kind of "unfriendly".
Sure, in the end, Sunset was intended to stay in the EQG world with her friends, but the whole "questioning" part seems kinda off to me. Giving the main emphasis of movies so far was the friendship. The main reason Sunset stayed in the EQG world was because she found friends there. Thinking about going back pretty much equals drawing a big red cross on anything she'd been through so far, including her friends, which was the original reason why... And here we go again.
