Is your favorite season 5 episode anywhere close to beating your overall favorite episode you had before S5 /mlp/?

Crusaders of the Lost Mark is feeling closer to beating Lesson Zero for me than anything else has so far.

I don't think S5 has by now any episode I would consider my favourite, but by far it has had very good episodes and a few I would put in my top 10. tbh I would put S5 at the level of S2

Season 5 is full of episodes that seem determined to become my new favorites. Crusaders of the Lost Mark, Amending Fences, Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep, Rarity Investigates, even the madhouse that was Slice of Life. None of them have quite won the spot yet, but the season as a whole is probably the best of the show.

A Canterlot Wedding. Most people would probably say something like Return of Harmony or Cutie Mark Chronicles, and those are great episodes, but for me ACW was the high point. It just did a brilliant job of playing on everything the fandom expected or complained about at the time and taking the episode in the exact opposite direction. It also did a great job of sending off my favorite season of the show. I guess in retrospect it only worked so well because of the expectations at the time it aired, and if it came out now it'd be more on the average side, but I can't bring myself to replace it- at least not yet. If season 5's ending does live up to the standards of the rest of its episodes, perhaps it or Crusaders of the Lost Mark will take the number one spot.

She's normally a very strong-willed and brave character and the episode did a good job of exposing and making her confront her weaknesses and fears without making her seem pathetic or unlikable. With the other two dream episodes, their personalities were twisted to justify the plot and feels, while here, Apple Bloom was still her likable self while confronting her insecurities. It also handled the plot of them not getting their marks at the same time and feeling tension in their friendship over it, which I really appreciated. It made the ending of Crusaders of the Lost Mark so much more rewarding and happy than if that fear never came up. Plenty of cute moments in there, too. The fact that she's my favorite helps.

That one was 3rd or 4th for me before this season. Now I'm not so sure though. Season 5 had a lot of heavy hitters.
