I got kicked out of my band for not caring and missing a lot of practice because I'd buy chicken fingers and pass out while watching Trailer Park Boys before hand. Practice was usually at 11pm, so I don't feel terrible about that.

lead singer is in a new band, basically having a talented person and kicking them out because of drugs they think they're doing something good but it can be even worse than missing a few shows. it could mean band fails without that one person and no one comes to any shows ever. its like the band committed suicide.

nah fam. music is not a job. fans don't give a shit if you show up or don't show up. they don't even care if you play a song. you can roll up in a wheelchair on stage and drool whole time with an iv in your arm and they'll be mesmerized. as long as you crank out a good album and songs and shit you'll always have fans. no band ever failed because of multiple bad or missed shows. name 1

No one is talking about failing or succeeding, dude. It's not about that. It's stressful and not fun dealing with a person who bails. Why would I want that person around? It's annoying and shitty to have a group of guys who want to play and they schedule their plans around it but they suddenly can't because of one person's behavior.

Seek some help for your addiction and stop finding reasons to put the blame on your old bandmates. You fucked up but you're likely young and you can still make good decisions.

What the fuck are you talking about? Every time a band has had a lead singer so fucked up that they can't play, the fans get PISSED. Fans of Creed and Kings of Leon have literally sued the band over this. Childish Gambino caused an outrage recently just because he thought a show that hired him was a DJ set, so all he did was DJ. He showed up and wasn't even fucked up and it was all due to an understandable miscommunication and the people there were still livid. Come back to reality.

I lost three three former band members due to heroin overdoses alone. The oldest one was 23. The last time i seriously thought about it, i counted something like 24 people i've known in the scene who died from drugs/alcohol. I'm a former alcoholic myself and for years, timed my drinking so as never to interfere with practice or gigs. Band policy is as follows...Do what you want as long as it doesn't affect the band. 1st time is a warning, 2nd time you are out.
