arabia is though, and they've arguably done more for music than, say, both americas, scandinavia, slavic countries, most of africa, the list goes on...

Just as an example, the guitar, lute and violin all are based on arabic instruments, quarter notes were first used in music by arabs,

Okay you guys have gone too far this time, you can't lay claim to a unit of time that you have zero way of proving was exclusive to Arabian culture. That's bullshit and I think you know it. Furthermore the guitar is based on the Greek chordophone, and chordophones which have been used by innumerable societies since Ancient Mesopotamia

Seriously, at a certain point historical revisionism just becomes making things up. I know you need to protect your myth of an Islamic golden age in order to sustain some dregs of self-worth, but the much more likely truth is that you have no worth

Of course I'm specifically talking about Al-Andalos where things were fairly liberal due to immense wealth and distance from the capital.

Things went to shit though and any cultural relevance muslim states had was forgetten by the time Ottomans reigned. And when that was over(400 year) it was too late.

There was still a very powerful scene of quality music being made during the 20th century namely in Egypt and Lebanon. Here's a couple of names: abd al halim hafez, fairouz(rec), kazim al sahir.

By the 90s pop shit took over and music as an art ended once and for all in the middle east. Only disgusting degenerate garbage like pop music from the west in now being made and now it's about money and fame.

TLDR: they contributed but not in the same sophisticated and organized way Europe did during its peak

OP is rather crudely and vaguely referring to musical "culture of islam" so doom doesn't really count.

In all seriousness "islamic music" can only be taken to mean music about or explicitly related to Islam. The only such music I can think of is sufi music, which is of much greater relevance and importance than, say, christian rock, which is literally a joke genre
