Yeah I agree their first album was probably their best but you guys don't think that their 5th album AM was at least innovative you know being a rock album with a very heavy hip hop influence. I found pretty cool and different.

First two albums are fun, energetic rock. Simple stuff that works well because the performances are good.
Then every single magazine and website started to suck their cocks and they gradually started to take themselves more seriously.
Now they focus on stuff they don't know how to do and are plain bad at.

I feel like they tried to hard. Think of a band like Green Day writing songs about coming out of the closet, smoking pot and then writing about "fuck the system" and conspiracy theories.

They are usually praised for their early work so if you generalize like that you are kinda being inaccurate. Also the Libertines are better tbh but the early arctic monkeys stuff is pretty good.

I think Favourite Worst Nightmare can give Humbug a run for its money. It still has some of the energy of their first album while being a bit more introspective.

I think Humbug's good, but it kind of started them on the road to where they are now, which I do not like at all.

AM is decent, the problem is that a lot of their fans say it's the best album of the century, while others say it's complete shit. none of them is true, it's just a "good-to decent-to mediocre" compilation of pop rock tunes with influence from hip hop, stoner rock and early black sabbath.
it also lacks the charm and the good lyrics from their previous albums.
