last.fm got hideously cumbersome with its new redesign, and its been 2 months with no meaningful updates, so what is a good alternative to use?

my only problem with it is that i can't upload album covers. i used to do this often is the cover is missing or low quality/res and now i can't do it anymore... the site isn't nearly as buggy as it was a month or two ago so i made a new account.

I don't think there is any yet. Libre.fm exists but there's no scrobbling application so I don't get how it's supposed to work at all.

I'm on the fence about deleting my last.fm account — the information is there, but I could live without it and the way it's displayed now is more misleading than anything.

Yes and no.
The "1 track = 1 unit that shows you like the artist" basis is very flawed; that was somewhat offset by having lots of artists displayed on a page and being able to use Lastimer, but now with only five it's barely representative of what I listen to at all.

So you just extract it into your iPod and run the app whenever you sync connect your iPod to your computer and it uploads the track data to last.fm?

Do you have to have iTunes or anything else open when you do this?

fuck no i dont want to lose all that history. honestly ive kept no written records, have a few sketchbooks, a couple photos of me but that site holds mroe of my personal history than anywhere else in existence. honestly the only way i can really track who i have been as person and changed through time is through that site. i dont post anything on fb and besides ive had lastfm longer. unless someone makes a similar site that can copy all of your last.fm scrobbles i aint changing.

I've literally just got the app sat in my Downloads folder.

1) Plug in iPod
2) DO NOT open iTunes or any other Media-syncing program
3) Open LastPod
4) Click Submit

There would usually be tracks listed there of course but my iPod Classic isn't plugged in

yeah its really crazy to think about and i never even thought about it like that until recently when i was considering giving up on the site. it literally is the archive of most of my life. my music listening and thoughts posted as comments on that site are the most full archive of my life and personality than any where else. thats crazy to think about. since ive had it since i was 12 it literally represents all my life since i developed a personality and personal thought. the music i listened to as certain times shows what i was feeling and thinking about. it pretty amazing and scary at the same time.

Rockbox creates a .log file on your ipod.
I use Rock Scrobbler to automatically scrobble everything every time I plug it into my PC.
