anyone have any good reads on 80s synthwave stuff?

i think its interesting music because it all sounds basically the same and its about as cookie cutter as you can get but at the same time, it sounds very pleasant in the background...like this generations elevator music. It also manages to consistently emote nostalgic feeling even to those born after the 80s.

I like to know if theres ever been any study of it in terms of the actual music theory behind it (same scales used every time)
