>>60023137I actually immediately thought of MM for worst. I saw them touring for We Were Dead (which I didn't like) and they had the two drummers and the whole crowd sucked (no one dancing or moving), Isaac seemed only mildly into it. The only really awesome parts of the show were seeing Johnny Marr (who also didn't seem that into it) and Man Man, who opened and were fantastic.
Some of the best shows I've seen:
Flaming Lips/Sonic Youth 2006
Weird Al 2002
Animal Collective 2006 & 2008
The Music Tapes
Arcade Fire 2005
Jeff Mangum Solo
and honestly, Ludacris earlier this year.
AnCo, Flaming Lips, Weird Al and Arcade Fire are all good, but far from my favorite bands. They just honestly put on fantastic shows. Serious spectacles that totally absorb and you have a great time. Jeffe was just such a lovely experience to finally get to see him after almost ten years of waiting since I first heard his tunes and the whole crowd was so excited to be there and it was a great time. Luda was just a fucking party, he only played his awesome bangers, I was fucked up and having a great time, one of the only sets I've seen at a festival where I actually enjoyed myself.
The Music Tapes just transcend the traditional ideas of performance and create magical lived experiences that change your life. No biggie.
