>>60026640people are dressing simply i guess, with regular looking clothes like champion crewnecks and cuffed jeans and thrift store boots
looks kind of like slackercore/normcore but it's unlike normcore in that it's more for function and less b/c of apathy against name brand clothing. kind of a shitty explanation, but i guess it has more to do with the feeling of it. you notice these sort of minute shifts in the young people after living here for a while
Pete (Homeshake) is an anomaly, he was in Mac's band but the music he makes is completely different. More hip hop / soul influenced. He's a cool guy, spins some old school hip hop at this place called Drones sometimes (look it up if you're ever in town, that's where a lot of these artists hang out and its super inclusive)
>Are people starting to move outSee that's the thing, as far as I've known it, Montreal's always been a place people don't live forever in. I was born here, but a lot of my friends are only here for university or work. So you have a lot of people coming here for a few years, then moving on to another job, or moving back to their hometown. I personally want to move out b/c I've lived here my entire life and it's kind of getting to me, thinking of heading west to Washington, maybe Olympia or Seattle, or live with my friend in Victoria.
And yeah haha, the Plateau's been getting gutted by high rent for the past decade, shit aint pretty. You have bands like Arcade Fire to thank for that, what with them popularizing the Mile End and making the rent skyrocket. Sad stuff.
Don't let what I have to say about Montreal prevent you from moving here though. It's a fucking great city, and since you're from smalltown QC, I'm sure you have a good understanding of French, so you're bound to find something to do here. Plus rent is still dirt cheap in some parts. Worth the move, at least for a few years.
