I'm not the only one who holds themselves back from listening to a supposedly great album so I don't ruin it? I waited 2 weeks after TPAB dropped to listen to it all the way through, and then I did so 5 times in 2 days. I love that record.

The album basically set my life path; musicianship

I did play guitar and other instruments before that, but the album opened my musical horizons tenfold. I used to only listen to metal, but know I can appreciate jazz, folk, ambient, blues, older country, and world music (so much more too). I became a "rounder" person in general and my attitudes towards things changed.

Not an album, but the Mercy Seat by Nick Cave. I listened to it for almost 2 months straight driving and what not. Over the course of 4 years, I've probably listened to it like 1500+ times. I remeber I used to get an andrenaline rush listeing to so many instruments and noises build and build over the course of the track. Finally burnt out on it last summer

Without a doubt this. I was just in the most perfect emotional state to hear it when I did.
Just feeling so lost and absorbed into the enormous sprawling landscapes of the songs, and when "Lord Kill The Pain" came on it was absolutely elating.
So incredibly beautiful and bittersweet, if you've never heard it and you're the type of person that finds beauty in sadness then you should really try it when you're in a mood of existential melancholy.

I wouldn't erase any album from my memory. I think that an album builds significance and meaning the more you listen to it. If I were just to delete an album from my memory, I would be deleting the experiences of listening to it, which are influential to life.
