I just don't believe that any of the melodies on this track were genuinely appealing to any of them, they seem so completely devoid of intention and purpose. The song structure is extremely choppy - it's pretty clear they wrote this using looping which inevitably takes a toll on the logical melodic progression of a song as it is more like a mish-mash of copy-pasted sections than a song built around a single solid backbone.
I'm a huge fan of looping, don't get me wrong. Minimalism is very interesting to me, there's just nothing of substance to merit this much repetition going on here. These riffs scream math rock, but they aren't rhythmically interesting in the slightest. There is no use of polyrhythm or anything like that, they don't even break 4/4. And yet they loop, monotonously.
Even just from a tonal perspective it's so fucking... nasal, the pitch shifted guitars are fine but some of the synth patches especially the one that repeats for pretty much the whole song on every 8th beat is just disgusting.
Not good.
