Undertow is crap, Aenima is decent, Lateralus and 10000 Days have good songs, but dont flow well as albums and are way longer than they need to be. On /mu/ more hate is directed towards the shallow fans who revere them as the greatest thing that ever happened to mankind.
I still listen to them sometimes too though.

Fixed that, otherwise agree with you. As individual instrumentalists, they're pretty damn original as well. As good as Carey's drumming is, it's fucking weird.

I listened to Lateralus for the first time the other day, and I wasn't impressed. The only song I actually liked was Reflection, and I guess the opener was alright. I don't think this repetitive riff-heavy shit is for me.
