So I let my friend borrow my bike for 2 days and he when he returned it the crank was broke. Pic related, although mines was fixed gear (same model).

Since this Peugeot is from like 76 the parts are hard to find. Said friend has a roadbike that doesn't have wheels, Is it possible to just take the wheels from my Peugeot on it and a new chain to make it a fixed gear, or is it more complicated then that? Thanks in advance!

sheldon is your man for this crap. Decent shimano road bike wheels are like $100 for any UK merchant, that would be a hell of a lot easier if the rest of the bike is complete.

And by fixed gear, do you mean "the rear derailleur broke so I hacked the chain to work on a single cog"? Or is it an actual fixed gear bike with a track or flip/flop hub?

Nah, a previous time he broke the pin but I got another. Basically when I pedal only the pedals move and not the chainring/wheel.

So is the chain moving along with the pedals? Are the front chainrings turning as well? If both are true and the bike doesn't move forward under power, it's likely your friend hosed your freewheel - not the crank.

By the way - above assumes you have a freewheel and not a single non-freewheeling cog (as in a fixed gear bike). In that case the bike should go forward or backward under pedaling force.

I've completely rebuilt a '78 U0-8, so I might be able to help.
You're honestly better off buying a new threadless bottom bracket (I think sunlite makes a decent one). You need threadless for that wacky French threading. This will help you out because not only will the new BB be superior, but the spacing will be better for fixed gear anyway.
Of course, this means you have to buy a new crank as well, but that's a worthwhile upgrade in itself. It'll be much easier to work on.
You should be able to do this with less than $50.
