So I think discussing how we have become pussified in the west is going to be unfruitful.
Although it seems to be getting worse with the extreme progressives turning it up a notch with the oppression Olympics.
I think that perhaps government policy regarding these kinds of things could best made by an independent group charged with making the most economic, efficient and enjoyable experience for transportation mobility. I mean, what with lobbygroups, the two party system, greed, complacency, corruption and the short terms of governments committing to long term infrastructure changes seems like a very large obstacle to the largely bought out revolving door of incumbent governments we have.
I have faith in the technological prowess of humanity though and I think that the facts are on our side regarding cycling.
The benefits of cycling that aren't infrastructural but are health based and the current obesity and heart disease epidemic we are suffering in the west almost seems to be a no brainer solution.
We have also tried the great personal automobile experiment and have seen where its defecits lie.
In the grand scheme of things the automobile dominance of transportation has not been around for exceedingly long, I think that the generation after milennials will know the true extent to which the economical, health and environmental benefits cycling and public transport provide.
How long will it be until legislation prohibits and prevents people from driving wasteful vehicles? I'm sure a few island nations and Florida being underwater will freak enough people the fuck out to care.
