I'm not Australian but as an American I sympathize with the ausfags here who experience the same plight we do.

Is there an actual chance of more mass transit funding under Turnbull or is it just hopes and speculation. Will the car culture ever evaporate in Australia once and for all?

The other matter is state governments are often in on the car culture thing too, largely due to bribes from companies to build toll roads

The funny thing is that the best cities in Australia have decent public transportation.

Melbourne has decent trams and trains compared to the rest of the country and it is FAR more livable, less frustrating to get around in and overall better than the others.

As soon as you get rid of decent public transportation you end up with massive stagnation on the outskirts, too much centralization and roads become far more congested.

Abbott simply knew who his donors were and what they wanted, plus none of his rich mates would ever catch PT.
