>>889881I've been working with different brands of spokes, hubs and rims. In my experience, some of the best quality hubs are made by Shimano and DT Swiss, but those aren't my brands of choice. To begin with, Shimano hubs aren't exactly light or cheap, and while DT hubs have a better weight and superb quality, their high price isn't matched to their quality. Don't get me wrong, they're amazing, but you're paying way too much for what you're getting.
I mostly work with Powerway/Novatec hubs, which offer me the best price/quality ratio at the moment. I've taken them apart quite a few times, and they share a lot of components. The manufacturing tolerances are identical, as are the ceramic bearings.
Mavic hubs are absolutely hopeless.
