Should I just go with the cheapest one? I'm not really gonna punish my bike that much.

I can also buy some 2nd hand viking/carrera bikes for 140quid, but I just don't know.

is it a road bike or a hybrid you want, road bikes are comfy and good for exercising too whereas hybrids are just heavy utility bikes.

i think people are a bit turned off by road bikes because they think you need to be really limber and the seats are really uncomfortable but to be honest if you get a decent fitting roadie theyre really something you can stay on all day.
hybrids are a more upright position which some people might consider ccomfy but i wouldnt say in any way theyre more durable

The wheelset is pretty good for that price. I mean formula hubs are pretty solid and alexrims make decent budget hoops.
It's pretty cheap and upgradable
Have you checked LFGSS out yet? there's usually some good deals lying around

6 miles is a fairly long commute even on flat ground, you want fairly high pressure tires, 32c is what you will find on most decent commuter bikes. I personally like the Bianchi Strada because I want the durability of steel. There are plenty of hybrids and CX bikes you can buy new for around $400. Don't get tricked into buying used unless you have a full set of bike tools and know how to work on bikes. Faulty maintenance and repair can seriously injure you

If you have a budget of £140, get a new, bottom-end bike by a good manufacturer. I paid £150 for a Raleigh bike like six years ago and I still ride it everywhere as my main form of transport. I used to do eight miles each way to work and back, so 16 miles a day, on it, and it was fine for that. Do not buy a used bike because I bought one for £30 once and it was awful. Also, it was some shitty Tesco brand one, so don't buy those either. I don't know why that bike was so terrible, but my £150 Raleigh has served me well for over half a decade, it's easy to replace parts when they break, and it's generally pretty well-built.

I live in Manchester, by the way, so my rides are also flat, concrete and rainy, like you say yours will be.

The problem is most manufacturers only make road bikes with sprinting geometry and which is very twitchy to ride and not enough in endurance\randoneur geometry which is very easy and comfortable to ride

Ok went with your advice, tried out the sputnik and track comp road bikes, was not comfortable at all having to bend over like a tryhard racefag, handles sucked as well.

Went with the pinnacle hybrid instead since it's more relaxed.
