>>13762226>TickingPretty common on most Mitsubishi from the era, they used a smaller bore lifter and where kind of prone to getting shit in them, the larger ones in the later models (98 onwards) have a pretty big hole in them. Also tended to get a better flow rate through the top end as well, which is nice. They're about $100-120 for 6, 2hours work and will never tick again.
>>13762218>great transmissionUhh, not a huge fan of the Getrag 440 series. They're generally fairly tough fucking things as far as stock boxes go at least with the 6-speed (5- not so much) but they're really picky about what fluid they like.
Mine seems to like a mix of 50-50 Redline Shockproof Light and MT-90. It'll also take Shockproof Heavy, but I found it was taking too long to build up a happy temperature/viscosity in the transaxle itself for any kind of day-day use. That's not really ubiquitous to GTO's though, you'll find plenty of swearing and cursing from the R33 and 34 crowd (and probably the odd Porsche owner... that actually knows what transmission fluid is) about how theirs is being a shit and fussy with fluids as well.
