Prizm's differential is going, I can actually hear the bearings past 25MPH, especially if I'm going slow or at highway speeds for more than five minutes. Should I get an '03 Marquis for $2000 at 113k, or an '01 Outback for $4000 at 150k? I can probably afford the Marquis with cash after the holidays, and could probably 50/50 finance the Outback at the same time.

I had a 94 prizm that I got rid of recently. It wasn't worth shit, but I would occasionally put money into it if it needed it just because it was pretty reliable. I finally sold it to my mechanic with 210,000 miles on it for $150. I see it at his shop whenever i stop by, I think its up to about 225,000 miles now and still going.

Transmission is a dime a dozen.
It's non interference so timing belt won't hurt if it snaps. It like an hour job anyway.
Trans can be done in a day and while youre in there do a rear main seal and clutch (if applicable)

But that's wrong. IATs are even IMPRESSIVE. It chugs along because they made it do that to keep the 100,000 mile warranty. They're supposed to drop it to 60,000 so let's hope the problem goes away.

My c2 gt was horribly rattly, but it was the "stripped out" version with less sound deadening and stuff, it did handle well and was nippy enough so as a little city car it was fine.

My 306 in handled well and was really comfy, apart from a mild electric fault that cost £1 to fix it was reliable and rattle free.
I drove an old polo too for a while and it was honestly my least favourite car, it had no power, handling or character in any way shape or form, it was a 1.9 non turbo diesel though so at least the absolute lack of any kind of power was forgivable.

Well, I left the car to get out of the rain. But the most I could tell is that the front bumper is smashed and the right light is too, so nothing to big there. Tried to back out but the rain made the ground wet, so cant do much there myself. Guess its getting a tow soon then, biggest problem or concern is mud in the engine. I hope you shut the engine off as soon as you went in.
If you know anyone with a jeep or something with a trailer hitch you can try to get them to back it out for you. Probably wouldn't try this if the person doing the pulling doesn't know what they're doing or you're going to end up with a car wrecked on both ends and a pissed friend.
