Guys, I own old, rusty, beat up 1.3 mitsubishi lancer which I got as a first car to just beat it to shit and then get rid of it and forget what color it was. Now I have the chance to get rid of it, I can get a non rusty, pristine condition 98 sixth gen civic sedan 1.4. I should be excited but i dont know how to feel, I dont want to let the lancer go yet ;_;
civic doesnt feel like MY car even though it belonged to my uncle who was the second owner. Fuck knows how many owners the poor lancer had but it's mine now.

Besides, lancer got ABS, heated seats, airbags while civic doesnt. Also gearbox on lancer is way firmer than civics. Should I be at all concerned about such things or are those things so fucking minor that I shouldnt even make a big deal out of it?

If you prefer the Lancer, and it's running well, keep it. What makes one car better than another is ultimately than you enjoy driving it more, for whatever reason.

Lancer is really tired, the engine is way underpowered even though its just 10kw difference between civic and lancer. The engine is running well even through the abuse I put it through daily, but suspension is super stiff a lot of things need replacing in the chassis, bearings are tired and steering rack is making noise and replacing it will cost more than the car itself.
Apart from the equipment differences I listed in first post theres nothing Lancer does better than civic, except pollute air because of it's removed catalytic converter.
It's just that I feel its too soon for me to let it g ;_;

I've used them only a couple of times, its more of a heated back of the seat, doesnt warm your anoose. And I'm a little cautious it might set the whole car on fire.

I know that feel. Felt the same way when I ditched my old Rover.

Perhaps one day, when you're in a position to, you will have another Lancer of the same vintage as a second, but in properly good condition, and by then it'll be a classic, and driving it will make you feel young again...

Well, if by then those lancers will still be available. Rare car in my region, and I've never seen one with bigger engine than 1.3.

It was weird for me because in HS I drove my mom's Audi and my stepfather's Chevy, and they never made me pay for gas or anything. So when I turned 19 I got my first car of my own, a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix. I feel like when I drove it, I had some nice memories of cruising the highway without a care in the world. And to an extent that's true but let's put emphasis on not caring. Like, not caring that the "service engine soon" light came on once again, and not caring that the brakes make an undeniable squeal every time I put my foot down on them. Not caring that it shakes at higher speeds, not caring about the smashed up rear end from some white trash twat who essentially pulled a hit-and-run on me.

I think it's terribly common for people to become emotionally attached to their first car, no matter how misguided it is. If I'm realistic about saying "when it ran, I had made some good memories in it" what I really mean is "there were times I was able to get from A to B, and from B to A again, without having it break down on me". I improved my income situation and bought a much newer, cleaner and better running car, but somehow I'm still having to get used to it, there is this nagging sense that I still "miss" the Pontiac. Fuck no I don't miss all the shit I put up with when I drove that thing, I spent way too much time sitting at the local shop waiting for them to tell me what costly repair I had in store for me. I don't even think poorly of Pontiacs now or anything, but I doubt I'll ever own one again either.
