Said goodbye to my 2014 Focus since I never drive it. Looking for a decent beater, but not something that I care much about. Will really only be using it in the winter and occasionally during the summer when I need a back seat to haul people or Miata parts.

Came across this decent looking 3rd gen Civic hatch and got the guy down to $1300. Should I do it, /o/?

why get 3rd gen if going to leave it stock? get a 5th-6th gen for stock, they'll be just as cheap but newer parts and better parts

Looks like a great deal OP, it's pretty rare to find civics like that in un-mexican'd condition and even rarer to find them that cheap. If you're gonna be driving it in the winter I'd invest in some excellent snow tires and serious rust proofing.

i drive a 2014 focus too as my daily, i kinda want to get a third gen or a foxbody as a project but dat apartment life wont let me, only allowed to have 1 car per resident and not allowed to work on cars either

Finding a rest free or minimally rusted example that hasn't been riced and stanced on Racelands around here is difficult to say the least.

It's a decent car for what it is already. You don't need to swap a bigger motor in just to make it faster. It is what it is, an affordable and economic failwheel beater. It might get a nice set of wheels, a cluster with an actual tach, and some interior and engine bay cleaning, but that's it

Honestly finding parts for Ef chassis is getting hard and harder. If you wanna build a car up id get an eg, but an ek would be a better daily.

As has been pointed out you're better off with a newer generation. They're newer and are easier to get maintainace parts for. If you don't want to pay the Civic tax look for an Accord or Corolla instead.
