RWD sports car in the snow

Florida fag here. My girlfriend and I are planning to go up north driving in December but I'm worried about snow. I've never driven in the snow before. My car is a procharged s197 GT with sticky summer tires. I don't even know what winter tires are even fucking look like.

Is it dangerous? Should the plans be scrapped? Can it be done? I can't rent a car either.

Unless you get stuck driving in an actual snow storm, 90% of roads are plowed and salted clear 90% of the time.

All seasons are just as useless in snow as they are in dry. Two sets of wheels one with summer tires and one with snow tires is the way to go. Just get some cheapo steelies for the snow set.

I got stuck in a blizzard in a 2002 camaro with e/t streets on the back and skinnies on the front. Was scarier than fuck. Anything over 30mph and I started to spin, couldn't see 10 ft in front of me. Still made it home.
tldr: sticky tires are useless in snow

In college one other kid I knew brought his M3 with summer tires. That winter, I helped push him out of a parking spot on level ground so the plow could finish the lot.

He couldn't get out of a parking space. Granted, there was ice under the snow, but no one else had a problem moving.

The tires would spin if I took my foot off the brakes too quickly when I came to a stop on snow. I couldn't make it down my street if it was icy. I slid through an intersection and down a hill going less than 10 miles an hour.

LPT: just bite the bullet and get proper tires. Avoiding a single tiny fender bender is worth the cost of cheap steelies and snow tires.

Summer tires in the winter up north are dangerous, whether you get into a storm or not, because the rubber compound is meant to perform at higher temperatures.

Get all-seasons and don't drive in storms and you'll be fine.

Get snow tires. I couldn't move an inch on ice with the stock summers. Got some dunlop winterforces and now I can even give it a lil boost before I slip. Provided you can even move on summers all they'll do is pick up snow until there is literally a 1" layer and you'll be driving like they're blocks of ice. I actually got stuck in the middle of the road once because it started snowing like a bitch on my way home and my tires did exactly this, had to get dragged off the road and have my wife bring my winters and help me change them on the side of the road. That was fun.

Remember: the problem with summer tires is the temperature range at which the compound works.

It doesn't matter whether it's snowing, raining, or dry - they won't have any grip below freezing.

Take a look at the tire tracks leading into the driveway. That's not even a quarter inch of snow. If you expect to drive in traffic in more than a half inch of snow, you're fucked.

How about re-routing your exhaust so it shoots off hot air right in front of the tyre and completely melt the snow?
Or does the exhaust just not produce that kind of heat?

Unless you're 2-stepping a doritomobile with the exhaust pointed at the ground in front of your rear tires, you're not gonna get enough heat.

I've driven pretty much every extreme of shittiest to best vehicle/tire combination in the snow, and your best option is to drive any (fwd/rwd/awd/4wd/jesuswd) car with good snow tires.
