>>137321821. Figure out your city's street numbering patterns. When something is "6500 North Pine Street" it is that far north from a designated center point. You will start to understand your streets to the point where all you need to see is an address to know where you are.
2. Study maps. Know which streets run N-S, which run E-W, and which are jagged clusterfucks.
Don't rely on GPS. Look at a route on it before you leave, memorize what your moves are (or even write them on a piece of paper) and then execute by actually looking for the streets. You will never get good if you are just staring at a screen doing the work for you.
