My Civic with almost the same motor will temporarily cut fuel hard if I wind it up without it fully warming it up first. I've got every major bolt-on for these engines on a stock ecu, which is probably my issue. It backfires when I shift if I use too much throttle at under 4K, which is really loud with the windows open. I've also money shifted from 7000rpm in second straight into first at WOT, ecu shut the motor off and it was fine after a restart.

This, VTEC won't operate if the car isn't warm enough.

Rev limiter is not at 7k and k's do not use ignition cut. Shut up and stop spouting off very wrong guesses. I've spent quite a bit of time in 1st and 2nd bouncing off the limiter while the car caught up to the tires, it's perfectly fine.

The inlet screen on the spool valve can get dirty, which might have contributed. That's the "vtec solenoid" to you non-Honda guys. It's like 3 10mm bolts and one plug to remove on the right side of the back of the motor.

Bullshit. Mine doesn't start ripping until 5K. The oil pump is designed for higher rpm. I cannot drive my car around at less than 2500rpm in any gear comfortably, and it sits at 4200rpm just to keep up with highway traffic.

well yeah I'm just making guesses here, no need to get all ass blasted. my point is, in first with full traction(your example you were clearly not), as the engine cuts fuel or ignition(some do one or the other, some both), the momentum of the car will maintain the rpm at the cut point because it's heavy as fuck compared to the engine's braking co-efficient at that speed, soon as it drops the engine will restart with starting levels of throttle and fuel, there by flooring it and over shooting the limiter again, this when you take into account that the transmission isn't completely rigid, nor are the tyres meeting the road, you get an oscillating effect which causes the engine to oscillate in speed too.

i've seen this shit first hand, easy fix for drag cars is to reduce the flywheel weight which in turn cuts back the feedback loop, breaking traction also prevents this since theres very little feedback at that point.

No, it's safe to rev lower, but my 75a engine mounts, which are required to control what would be insane, drivetrain shattering wheel-hop, transmit engine vibration. You never need to go up that far unless you got stupidly tall gears. In my car, the gears are so tight that I can pretty much exist in the sweet spot in in every gear below 100mph.

Only time you go to the rev limiter is if you're drag racing and REALLY can't afford to shift. Spirited driving? Stay at whatever RPM your engine makes peak power.

You fucking moron. Coolant only serves a true purpose if you redline the engine or run it in a hot climate. The oil will be enough to keep the internals cool, especially for only 20 miles. The stall was probably coincidental.

no, he's right. An engine doesn't just generate so much fucking heat that it destroys itself by driving 20 miles at low revs. Engines can be fucking air cooled by having a fan blow onto them, they dont NEED to have water cooling.

and yes, oil will help keep the engine cool by absorbing heat.

Holy shit is that what caused my power loss when I'm revving my Accord (01) out? It's only happened once after I had cleaned my throttle body (I had a hunting idle) so i just pulled over and waited a sec then it worked fine.

I also had a no start situation a few months ago, it was cranking but no start and smelled like fuel after, so i thought it was that. My hunting idle is still there but usually only on start up when it's warm.
