I've been saving for the past year to buy a Focus RS.
Last week I got a job at GM...and they give a huge employee discount.
Should I get the Camaro instead?

Camaro. The new model will be much lighter than the current one. And 455HP/455TQ. The Focus RS is a fwd-based, hopped-up economy sedan.

ATS-V might be an interesting option too. It's not exactly similar to the Focus RS, but it's probably as close as you can get given it's a 4-door performance car.

We get a similar discount at work, since we are involved with producing interior trims and airbags for GM, and Chrysler iirc.

It sucks though because I'd never, ever buy an American car, or a Chevy truck.

That's a tough choice OP, I say go big and order a z28.
Even if you have to go into debt, because I've heard they are great cars on the track, and they look pretty good.

I wish we got a Nissan, Toyota, or Mazda discount.

Honestly... buy a shitbox until the new Cruze comes out. They're 1000x better looking than the pre-2016/17 models, and come turboed for dat boost and will still get 40+ meepeegees. Then after you've driven that for a few years and saved all that gas money (and assuming you got it for dirt cheap considering 7k discount), then you sell it with 0$ lost and go buy a used RS.

There is a GM plant near me and I havent been able to figure out how to get hired there. Top dollar, they start at about $15/hr.

It's a very long process to get hired directly by GM. Your best bet is to find out which temp service they use and get hired through them, then when you're there for a year or so apply directly. I'm still in my temp phase making 15/hr working RIGHT NEXT to people who are direct hires making 20+/hr doing the exact same shit I do.

At Nissan we get a discount on purchases but we also get employee leases which are super discounted short term leases, its basically driving a new car every 8-12 months then giving it back and getting another one, whatever you want (or can afford).
