just swapped in an s14 driver seat today
and i plan to swap out the auto trans for a manual one
thinking about getting some 15inch wheels and about a 1-2 inch drop on coilovers
also want to change the front to a pignose
and im looking into rb swaps

ive driven an s14 and currently own an s13
im 6'1'' and had to have the seat all the way back to have about 2 inches of headroom

but the s13 hatchback has a bit more room

its pretty stock yeah, still open diff even.
tein HR coils and a mishimoto rad are the only 'performance' parts on the car, but it's also got 180sx seats and an r32 steering wheel which is cool. the 180 seats are really comfy, they kinda look like s14 seats.

and kinda oem+ is the plan. a little lip, ganador mirrors, weld the diff and drift it at the track until the KA gives up on me. then i'd like to go RB25 and throw wide front fenders and rear overs on with a cusco bolt in cage and a hot road bodykit for muh jdm pointz. but thats after i figure out how to make more money, lol..

any reason you wanna swap from chuki to zenki?

Oh, so you hate money? Seriously though, if it's DOHC you can leave the KA. It's not a bad engine but if you're swapping the trans anyways and got the money for an SR or RB, go for it.

I have a question for you S-chassis br/o/s

I'm looking into buying one as stock as possible. I'd like to have it garage-kept and work on it on an as-needed basis.

Just generally speaking, what should I specifically look for while looking for? Again, I'm not interested in an already heavily-modded piece of work. Is there anything specific when looking at an S13 versus an S14? Any little help or advice would be awesome.

If you want stock and clean as possible, you might have to buy an auto one and manual swap it. I found a stock manual one but it needed a lot of body work and I've dumped a lot of money into just that without any engine mods yet. If I could redo it I'd get an auto one and swap it.

For S13s, you should avoid 89s and 90s if you plan on keeping the KA. They only come with the single-cam version. My dual-cam KA is slow enough as is, I can't imagine driving the single-cam one.

i fit in mine barely. thanks to the sunroom my head has like a quarter inch in the depression made between the ceiling and glass. I'm 6" 3. i hear the bride rails and seat can get you super low so that may help you out

Pretty good list of the JDM brands.

If you want to go further afield, OZ and Team Dynamics make great wheels, and OZ's cheaper Sparco line is pretty good too. If you're in the US, Tire Rack's TRMotorsport line are also good quality (many are made by Enkei) and very cheap, and aren't knockoffs.

Tire Rack has about the biggest selection of wheels out there, and you can set the site to show you a mockup of what they'll look like on the car, plus if you buy wheels and tires together they'll mount and balance them for you and all you have to do is stick them on the car when they come.

the amp and sub are right under the hatch on display for stealing
and seems to a water leak somewhere

So my car has been stalling out when I put new gas in it. Stopped at the pump after work tonight and afterwards this shit started happening. Have to be super careful so it doesn't stall going round a corner and power steering cuts out.

Like when I let off the gas it won't idle and it just lugs and dies. Next time I drive it it's fine though.

KA are known to have an air issue IF you don't bleed them correctly and a lot of people don't. Just buy a factory thermostat from nissan (part # 212000C82A ) It should be $20 or so from a dealership. Just walk into the parts dept and order it. You don't need the nismo anyhow unless you are tracking the car.

However thanks to my dad being into car back in the day I have quite the collection of tools and supplies at my disposal, all the wires and connectors are waytek brand stuff.

and yeah dem air bubbles in the system are a whore. thankfully i replaced the bleeder screw and it works great.

i want the mishimoto fans for it too, but they're like 200 bucks so i'll probably go with the altima fans as well.

Early-Mid 90s I think, pulled them off a junkyard car.

I think any 90s model altima fans will work. The newer ones are all black while the old models have white fan blades.

My bleeder screw is frozen and I'm scared to touch it. I end up jacking the car up to make the radiator the highest point, let it warm up to temp. Once it's at temp and the water starts to burp out I throw the radiator cap back on and shut it off. I massage the upper rad hose too, more so just push up and down on it to get the air out. Make sure there is water in the overflow tank as well as the system tends to "breath." But I have a shitty autozone radiator cap too. There cheap enough I just replace them once a year or so.
If the bleed screw actually works it should be easy to bleed a KA, just close the rad cap first then the bleeder screw.

Also that sounds like a bad thermostat or air bubbles.

when i got the car, the lower rad hose was loose so we babied it home and its been problems since. i had the upper hose blow off on me because the guy didnt tighten it down fully, then the bleeder screw broke off when i went to bleed it to make sure all the air was out when i got it back home. it took me like 3 days straight to get it out, i broke an extractor off in there and eventually got a fucking diamond tip dremel bit and went to town on it like that. retapped and replaced. bled the bitch and it ran awesome until i got stuck in really bad traffic like two weeks ago and it overheated on the way home. luckily i was a block away from my buddies house so i left it overnight and babied it home.

it has to be a bad thermostat though, i can drive it with no issues at all until its been at operating temp for awhile then it slowly overheats.

Ah sounds like typical 240 problems.

Just replace your thermostat with an OEM one and you should be good. If the water pump is a concern might as well do that as well. The only issue with overheating a KA too much is you can warp the head and/or head gasket.

Thanks, I rebuilt it earlier this year, have about 10k miles on it with no major issues. Nothing leaks on it either. Only mods are the S14 232 exhaust cam(instead of 248) and a DC sport 4-2-1 header. Muh midrange power. It has no problems purring along on 10 hour drives either. Although I wish my car had cruise control. Sort of tempted to pull a cruise control system off a 240 for mine.

Well actually the damn transmission started to leak around a few sensors this past month, I need to fix that but I'm being lazy.
Also hatchback is best camping vehicle.

Power wise probably under 5hp difference. But the car has a bit more pep and throttle response. The factory cast iron manifold is a 4-2-1 design anyhow.

Didn't hop on it fast enough, someone else ended up paying more & getting it. So she's back to looking for a turbo 7mge mk3 or possibly importing a low miles rhd 1JZ mk3 since you can buy & import at around the same price as a swap, but oem & less hackjob.
