I defend the Sonic and Cruze. The Sonic uses a European chassis and engines and is built in America. The Cruze uses the American Delta platform, European engines, and is built in America.

But the Spark is a literal Daewoo.

There are not a lot of options for cars that size in the USA. Spark, Smart ForTwo, Fiat 500, and Scion iQ which was discontinued are about it. You can go a little bigger and there are a lot of alternatives.

I'd argue that the Fiesta, Fit, etc are close enough in size that they're basically the same bracket in the US market. I'd recommend a Mazda2 if they still made them. I currently have a Fiesta ST and love it, if the base Fiesta is even a fraction as good it'd be a great choice.

You are fixated on price but the selling point of the Spark is the size. The Cruze is not really an option for someone who wants the "city car" dimensions of a Chevy Spark.
