Usually use cheap WD40 to clean it and then scottoil to lubricate. Would stay away from chain wax as it tends to pick up grit, which then gets ground into the rings

The stuff on the left will likely be WD40 by another name. Not that that's a big deal if you got it cheap. Just get a toothbrush and work all the crevices.

The can on the right will likely come out as spray with a bit of foam, which then goes gummy as it dries. I find it works better than chain wax as the excess gets flung off onto the road as you ride and what's left is a thin layer that lubricates the chain without attracting grit and other shit that'll fuck with your chain.

Post your clean chain once you've sorted it

I tried castrol's products in your pic, they worked alright but the lube was flinging lots of drops on the rim. Motul lube didn't so I stuck with it.

I never really liked it to be honest, it's a popular trainer bike but it always felt awkward riding around town which is 90% of the test. When you turn 90 degree it just feels shit.

kek funny you say that, if I have my feet on the passenger pegs and my knees super forward, I'll burn my knee cap a tiny bit. It's actually a really nice bike for colder weather riding as the heat coming off the engine and exhaust warms your legs up. not the best during 102 degree rides in summer though.

waterpoof really means "water resistant for x amount of time". don't get happy with the throttle, or the brake lever. dress warm, then throw another layer on. i thought i over-dressed for a 4 hour, 45 degree night ride through rain and it would have been more comfortable to stick my fingers in a meat grinder.

Remember this.

Tyres have a limited amount of grip. Everything you do (accelerating, braking, cornering) uses half of the amount. When it's dry you can use the full amount, so accelerating and cornering for example.
When it's wet you only have half the amount, so you can only do one thing at the time. So if you need to corner, you must be done with de-accelerating, before you start to lean. When you want to accelerate, don't do it while in a corner.

I think it's partially reliability, and partially price. A new KLR is less than half the price of a 690 Enduro or similar hence the joke that KLR owners are all cheap asses with milk crates for top boxes etc.

I didn't keep track of time but I think like 2-3 hours lol. I couldn't find a way to route the clutch cable without stressing any point more than I wanted, and the damn throttle cables kept sticking when I turned the bars a certain way no matter how I routed them. I ended up just detaching the return cable because I thought that was causing the sticking/slow return. Now with just a single pull cable I get a nappy throttle return no matter where I turn the bars.
After thinking about it for a while I thought maybe the return cable was too loose, so it was folding up within the cable tube and causing friction. I will later try reattaching it a little tighter, but I'm fed up with that shit for now so it will stay a single cable.

What's the second cable for anyway? So if it sticks you can force it closed and that cable will pull the slide shut?

Okay guys, I just went on my first ride since getting my license. I got a few questions for those of you that aren't nobikes. I have new tires on my bike (Ninja 250), the rear tire feels like it kinda slides around a bit in turns, nothing drastic but I can definitely feel it and it kinda freaks me out. I was riding on dry pavement so it wasn't the road surface, is this normal or should my tires be firmly planted all the time? Also when I upshift, i get a bit of a jerk, am I supposedly to be giving it throttle when upshifting or just releasing the clutch?

You apply throttle as you release the clutch to maintain a smooth acceleration or steady speed. You don't want to pull in the clutch and jam the throttle wide open and rev it to oblivion. Just enough throttle that you don't have that sudden change from coasting back to having engine braking again.

Can anyone explain to me why it is okay for yamaha to price it's yz125 2-stroke bike at twice as much as their tt-r125 4 stroke? Everyone knows that 4 strokes are more expensive, just because the 2 stroke has more power doesn't justify jacking the price up like that.

unless you're riding in some rural area where there are barely any lights and your visibility is reduced and also wildlife to contend with, it's probably a good experience for you to go for a night ride.

roads will be emptier too so that's always a plus, and night rides are kickass

Been looking at a 2013 Victory Judge with less than 5k miles for 8 thousand American dollaridoos.
Went and saw it and test drive it.
It's sex on wheels. Super comfortable.

It was a bit more docile than I expected but would pick up the front with no clutch persuasion in 1st and 2nd and was doing 50 before I even realized. Waay different from my KLX, I can see with some sort of bigger pumper carb it could be pretty hektik. I got so used to my KLX's pissed of 23 hp that even twice as much hp felt docile kek

It has a 36mm pumper carb and pretty open exhaust so off idle to about 1/2 throttle is pretty significant. Low down grunt is pretty good for such a small motor but it doesn't have much up top

Does CVK just mean the the old style carb?
I've never had a bike of my own with a pumper carb so i don't know what I'm missing out on. I've just learned how to get the power out of what I have. Never really relied too much on the throttle though. I tend to just keep it pretty steady. I kind of suck at riding dirt though.
If I were planning on dumping more money into the DRZ to make it into a more desirable bike then I would probably do the carb next. The problem is that the DRZ will always have compromises in performance so I am not sure if it is worth spending money on it rather than getting replacement or additional bike.

CVK has a vacuum operated slide. That means when you open the throttle there is a delay between that and the actual slide opening. This is BAD for throttle blips like when you wont to hop the front tire to get up on a rock or things similar to this. CVK are a bit better at adjusting to altitude/air density than pumper/slide carbs are, get better fuel mileage, and are better for emissions.

Big problem with the DRZ is weight, which you can't really fix
