Hey /o/ , I wanted to purchase a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo MR in the near future. I was wondering if this was a good car to drive daily (School and home + Any other activites)? Any advice and or warnings about this car would be appreciated. Or should I check out another vehicle?

surprisingly bad on fuel economy... like 16mpg city/18 highway bad. It has very tall gears that make it run at 4500rpm going 70mph

The transmission especially, lots of horror stories from the pre-2012 MRs.

Daily driving in slow traffic in automated mode will be a pain in the dick. Try keeping it in manual and don't be afraid to stay in second or third up to 4.5k rpm.

Like the other anon said, expect shit mileage. I usually average 11-15L/100km.

If you don't want to fill up every 300ish kilometers, then this is not the car for you. Although a tune, even those little cobb pucks can help economy a little.

Aside from that, just make sure you let it warm up before hooning, and it would be a good idea to eventually get a catch can, and turbo timer.

Look into the TC-SST transmission the MR has. from my read, they're a bit finicky and aren't as reliable as the GSR's 5 speed manual.

The trans isn't manual, but by no means is it shitty. fucker shifts very quickly.

If you want a genuinely good dual clutch for half of the luxuary/supercar price then this is the car. If you're in the market for something with a clutch pedal then this is the wrong car. Simple!

Because you're still at -12ish psi until you hit 2800-3000 rpm. That and like >>13751197 said, gearing has a lot to do with it.

Knowing the type of people who own these cars I'd say anything from 2008 is gonna be beat to hell I'd wouldn't buy with out having some one look at it. They are also heavily ricer taxed.

I know the gearing has a lot to do with it, what I can't figure out is why the 5th gear ratio needs this high an rpm. 4500/70 seems super excessive for a road car.
