I was very close to buying a manual Geo Storm (rebadged Isuzu Impulse) for $1k once but the car was sold before I could make my final decision.

It seemed like a nice little car that could be fun. Parts seem to be hard to find though.

Honestly I know next to nothing about Isuzu except that my neighbor used to have one of these trucks. Its still the best looking little pickup I've ever seen and I want one real bad.

That thing was an absolute beast

It's a shame the 4 wheel drive didnt work though (hubs didn't want to lock or something). It was a proper old school SUV.

They're still around, make heaps of light commercial trucks and stuff like that, also the D-Max 4wd is quite a good vehicle from all accounts. (Its not sold in the US)
The old 4BD1 diesel engine is a fucking great piece of work too

To be honest, the current and prior Colorado are almost as large as a full size Silverado or F150, similar width and wheelbase, just smaller interior dimensions.

"Real" compact trucks died when the domestic Ranger production ended, International ranger is Colorado sized.
FWD utes aren't trucks, pickups, or otherwise

It's funny to think now the styling and general purpose of the Vehicross was the progenitor to all modern CUVs.

The Lexus RX series may have made them luxurious and the AMC Eagle may have toyed with the concept but the Vehicross was the one that defined the styling for the rest to come.

Piazza's here tended to suffer because no one really bought many of them.
The brakes where pretty rubbish for a turbo car (one hard use and its cooked!) and the suspension was never tweaked to deal with the power it was throwing through the front hoops. So it would tramp, hop and torque steer its way to glory (ie- nearest tree, gutter or ditch)

As far as I know they made pretty decent small diesels that could be found from European GM products. Possibly the best Japanese diesels? A early 90's Vectra with 1.7-liter diesel would go on forever.

I grew up seeing these fairly often in South eastern PA and when I moved to Baltimore I saw a few as well. I never knew they only made 4,153 for the US market until recently.
