And even though it's currently the slowest sports car on the market, you also need to remember it's the cheapest too. It costs $3k less than the Miata Club. For under $3k you can install headers, full exhaust, intake, and E85 tune for a touch over 200whp, or nearly 240bhp (lots of proof of people achieving this in the forums). And you can easily reduce the weight of the car to 2700lbs by removing the useless rear seats and spare tire and jack (Car & Driver did this). With that new power to weight ratio your Toyobaru is now much quicker than a Miata Club for the same price.
Fun fact: for the price of the Miata Club with the Brembo package ($32k), you can buy an FR-S ($26k) and install a quality supercharger kit, like the twin-screw from Edelbrock ($5.4k) and rape just about any other new car under $40k.
