I need recommendations for a lightweight folding knife 3-4" without serrations and very high quality steel. I need this to hold an edge as well as my American made old timer 70T.

This is for my bug out bag. I've considered just getting another 70T, but it weighs a ton and I figured you guys might know of an alternative. This will be paired with a Leatherman Style CS for its scissors/implements and low weight.

can you narrow it down a bit. IIRC Schrade 70T had carbon steel blade and almost every folder today is stainless.

And please tell us what you you're going to need it for. Do you want it to look threatening or as tool-like as possible?

IMO the steel type is the last thing you should be looking at when choosing a BoB folder. I recommend AUS-8A or 8Cr13Mov steel and full metal construction with frame- or liner lock, and small size. So called super steels are difficult to sharpen and they don't hold the edge any better when they come in contact with metal or rock. They just cost more.

My 70T has a stainless blade and a good one at that.

While this is the ideal purpose of the knife I'm looking for, but it'll need to be able to take everyday use and remain sharp if I don't have alternatives. Back in the 70s. They switched over to 440C and then Schrade+ which is basically 440A with a special heat treatment that gives it a higher carbon content and a fine grain structure. The later model schrades were made with 420 high carbon in an effort to cut costs.

I'd get a smaller blade for game processing. They're easier to work with especially if you decide to take small game, but a 4" blade can easily quarter a white tail and not be cumbersome in the hand.

Would getting a SOG Flash II be a good idea if I just want a foldable general purpose knife for whatever. I would get the simple version, pic related. I don't need any gimmicks, all I need it to do is be able to cut things, hold its' edge and to be able to be sharpened. If I need something more complicated done I have bigger knives for that.

It would be used as a tool for all kinds of stuff I can come up with. Are there better/cheaper options out there? I live in the EU, so it would be nicer if I could order a knife from here, because shipping costs from the US are ridiculously high.

The Flash II looks like a decent EDC knife. Should be easy to sharpen and have decent edge retention as long as you don't try to put a razors edge on it and then use it heavily

The sheath and handle are meh materials, but didn't have any faults. The blade is good and came very sharp. It's a reasonable knife for the price and a good choice if you want to try out a Canadian style knife at low cost.

Mainly firewood preparation, the blade is quite thick (5mm), i think it will be good for batoning.

honestly, I got the SOG seal pup elite. This knife is fucking legit. very high quality and sturdy.I highly recommend it. I also have the SOG flashback as my EDC and it hasn't failed me yet. Fastest assisted opening knife on the market, strong blade. So far SOG has done well for me. I did get some of the more expensive knives though. I wouldn't recommend getting cheap knives from anywhere. Pay for good steel...

The fit and finish is taking some getting used to. I may take some high grit sandpaper to some of the edges.

I wanted to find a buck 110 with bone handles and nickel bolsters, but figured id give boker a try.

That depends on how big a knife you want, the Becker BK15 BK16 BK17 are good mid sized knives, Schrade makes some decent cheaper knives, the schf42 should be pretty competitive to the Beckers but cheaper
